2. Does the Department of Health provide nursing care in people's homes?

Yes, frail or chronically ill residents who would benefit from a nursing assessment and home visit every two to four weeks, are eligible for services.  Contact the Adult Health Program at (203) 622-7859 to speak with the nurse.

3. Does the Department of Health provide immunizations?

Yes, public health nurses provide routine child and adult immunizations Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 9:00am - 3:00pm or by appointment.  For more information, call (203) 622-6495.

For information about travel immunizations and local providers, call (203) 622-6495 or (203) 622-3782. Try to schedule immunizations six weeks before departure.

4. Does the Department of Health provide tuberculin skin testing (tuberculosis screening)?

Yes, the tests are offered Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 9:00am - 3:00pm or by appointment.  Plan to return within 48 to 72 hours following the test, to have the test interpreted.

5. What services does the laboratory offer?

The lab provides a variety of public health services for the public and for other branches of the town government. Services available to the public include: 

• Testing of well water for bacterial and chemical contamination
• Identification and testing of ticks for the Lyme Disease bacterium, radon testing
• Blood testing for lead and cholesterol

6. When is the lab open?

The lab is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

7. How long does it take to get test results?

Turnaround times vary, but in general, results are ready within a week of sample submission.

8. Can I bring anything to the lab to have it analyzed?

Please call the lab or refer to the website for sampling instructions regarding water, radon, or ticks.

9. Where is the lab located?

The Health Department Laboratory is located on the ground floor of the Greenwich Town Hall:
101 Field Point Road
Greenwich, CT 06830

It is at the opposite end of the building from the parking garage.

10. What are the steps necessary to add a bedroom, pool, tennis court, etc. to my home or property if on septic?

13. Does the Department have an STD clinic?

Yes. There is a  free and confidential STD clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM (last patient registered at 4:30).  The clinic is located on the 3rd floor of Town Hall in the Department of Health.
