PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Robert “Bob" Kick began his firefighting career in 1987 as a volunteer in Newtown,
Connecticut and 6 years later he was hired as a professional firefighter in September of 1993, and still serves the Newtown community as a Fire Commissioner; and
WHEREAS, During his 27-year professional career, his leadership and perseverance served him well as he rose through the ranks, first as Lieutenant in 2001, Deputy Chief in 2006 and ultimately promoted to Assistant Chief in 2007; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure he oversaw the renovation of the Glenville and Byram firehouses, the construction of the new Central Fire Station; the assignment of Officers to apparatus in all seven career fire companies; a consolidated Public Safety Dispatch system; the hiring of 34 new career firefighters and the purchase of 14 pieces of apparatus; and
WHEREAS, In his 13 years as Assistant Fire Chief, Bob has implemented numerous software and information technology programs that continue to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Greenwich Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, After 33 years of service to both the Newtown and Greenwich communities, Bob is signing off the air to spend more time with his family, especially his wife Lori and their daughter Sarah.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Fred Camillo, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim September 30, 2020 as
Assistant Chief Robert Kick Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all citizens to join me in celebrating and in recognizing Assistant Chief Bob Kick’s contributions to our Town and in wishing him well in his retirement and future endeavors.
