Bicycle safety training

Bike_PictureRemember the feeling of first learning to ride a bicycle on your own—without training wheels and without a parent’s balancing hand? Remember that sudden rush of freedom? Bicycling is not only fun and freeing, but it’s also an excellent way to get healthy exercise. This bicycle safety event is designed to teach elementary school bicyclists the basic skills they need. By learning bike handling and traffic skills, students can enjoy bicycling more and reduce their chance of injury.

This event is made up of a series of stations, each dealing with an important aspect of safe cycling. Participants will have their bicycles inspected, learn how to ride, learn the rules of the road, and practice bicycle-handling skills. The activities are designed to be fun and educational. Police car demo and free helmets will be provided.
