PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Bobby Walker Jr. began his career as the Boys & Girls Club Chief Executive Officer in 2015; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Bobby has distinguished himself as an educator, administrator and community leader to elevate the student experience, and those accomplishments are matched by his warmth and ability to connect with children of all ages; and
WHEREAS, Before joining the BGCG, Bobby served for nine years as head of the middle school at King School in Stamford, and was a teacher and dean of middle school students at McDonogh School, a school in the Baltimore area. He began his teaching career at his alma mater, St. Mark’s School in Dallas, TX where he taught U.S. history, language arts and life skills, and became the assistant head of the middle school; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Boys & Girls Club, he expanded its Academic Success programs, created the Youth of the Year Dinner, established the Friday Night Teen programs and tremendously increased the popularity of the ‘Muddy Up 5K’ fund-raising event; and
WHEREAS, Bobby’s limitless energy extends to his involvement in the community including serving as Vice Chair of the First Selectman’s Diversity Advisory Committee; and as a member of the Greenwich Hospital Board of Directors, the Greenwich Junior League Community Advisory Board, the Greenwich United Way Community Planning Council and the Greenwich Achievement Gap Roundtable; and
WHEREAS, As Bobby assumes new responsibilities as the first Assistant Head of School for Student and Community Life at Greenwich Academy, he will remain a Boys & Girls Club Advisory Board member.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Fred Camillo, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim June 30, 2020 as
Bobby Walker Jr. Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all citizens to join me in celebrating and in recognizing Bobby’s contributions to our Town and the Boys & Girls Club Greenwich.
