PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Stay Home, Be Counted – Greenwich Census Update
Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo is urging residents to use this moment of self-quarantine/social distancing to complete the 2020 Census.
By now, most households should have received a letter in the mail from the U.S. Census Bureau with a code for their household to enter online and instructions on how to fill out the Census online. The good news is that you may fill out the Census questionnaire online even if you have not received anything in the mail.
Simply go to www.my2020census.gov and enter your code OR home address.
The Census only takes about 10 minutes to complete, and is completely safe, secure and confidential. Your information and privacy are protected.
“Responding to the Census is critical, as results not only determine how billions of dollars in federal funding are allocated to local communities for schools, roads and other public services, but also how many seats each state gets in Congress,” Mr. Camillo said. “I ask every Greenwich resident to stay home and be counted by participating in the Census.”
Census Day is April 1, 2020. Please use the month of April to fill out your Census questionnaire online. The U.S. Census Bureau has, for the moment, suspended field operations until April 1, 2020 and will be following up with households who have not yet responded to the Census in May 2020.
The Town’s self-response rate is currently 33.9 %, which tracks closely with the county (33.5%), state (34.1%) and national (33.5%) self-response rates. Participation by all residents will help ensure that Greenwich receives its share of federal funding, and is accurately represented in Congress and in Hartford.
