Greenwich Remains Proactive in Covid-19 Prevention Efforts

PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Greenwich Remains Proactive in Covid-19 Prevention Efforts

GREENWICH, CT – As the number of cases of coronavirus increases nationwide, First Selectman Fred Camillo is urging residents and visitors to Town public buildings to heed protocols issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

While there haven’t been any cases diagnosed in Connecticut, these preventative measures are imperative to the health and safety of all, Mr. Camillo said.

“We are urging anyone who is feeling ill, whether with symptoms of the flu or any other illness, to stay home and not visit public buildings – whether it is Town Hall, the Senior Center, The Nathaniel Witherell nursing home or any one of our public schools,” Mr. Camillo said. The Town is installing additional informational signage and hand-sanitizing stations in public buildings.

Additionally, the Town Hall building will be sprayed with disinfectant on Saturday, March 7th. This practice has been conducted daily at the Greenwich Senior Center since March 2 and will continue in the building until further notice.

It should be noted that this disinfecting practice - for all building common areas that include but not be limited to bathrooms, elevators, hallway doors, conference rooms - is one that the Town performs every year during the flu season.

“Given the public interest and concern over the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the Town is publicizing what is has been protocol every flu season,” Mr. Camillo said.
