PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, The Town of Greenwich entrusts the integrity of its elections to more than 200 dedicated poll workers; and
WHEREAS, The Town of Greenwich has more than 30,000 voters who exercise their cherished right to vote in an orderly and pleasant environment thanks to Greenwich’s poll workers; and
WHEREAS, The Town of Greenwich’s 12 polling places are staffed by poll workers who rise before dawn on Election Day to open the polls and who man the polling places for 14 hours; and
WHEREAS, The Town of Greenwich poll workers are trained on the requirements of specific jobs including Moderator, Assistant Registrar, ID Clerk, Official Checker, Electronic Pollbook Clerk, Ballot Clerk and Tabulator so that they can discharge their duties effectively and impartially with respect to all candidates and political parties; and
WHEREAS, The Town of Greenwich wishes to acknowledge all of Greenwich’s poll workers and thank them for their dedicated service.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Fred Camillo, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim Tuesday, December 10, 2019 as
Poll Worker Appreciation Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all our citizens to join me in applauding their efforts on behalf of the citizens of the Town of Greenwich.
