PROCLAMATION from Peter J. Tesei, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Sandy Litvack is a Brooklyn, NY native who graduated from the University of Connecticut. He attended Georgetown Law School and, upon graduation, served in the Department of
Justice as part of the Attorney General's Honor Program; and
WHEREAS, Sandy practiced law in New York City for 20 years with the firm of Donovan Leisure Newton and Irvine. During his time in private practice, he was recognized as one of the country's top trial lawyers by his peers when he was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers; and
WHEREAS, In 1979, Sandy returned to the Justice Department when he was nominated by the President to be Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Anti-trust Division; and
WHEREAS, Sandy returned to practice law in New York in 1981 before heading to California to become General Counsel of the Walt Disney Company where he then became Chief of Corporate Operations and then Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, In 2006, he moved to Greenwich and married Joanna Swomley, with whom he has three sons — Chris, Jamie and Tyler; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his time on the board of Disney, Sandy also has served on the boards of Compaq PacificCare and Hewlett Packard. He also has served on the not for profit boards of Sesame Street, Lawyers for Civil Rights Under Law and the UCLA Medical School.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, PETER J. TESEI, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim Friday, November 15, 2019 as
SANFORD "SANDY" LITVACK DAY
in the Town of Greenwich, and urge all our citizens to join me in applauding Mr. Litvack's service to the Town and in wishing him many more years of health and happiness.
