GREENWICH — The town’s municipal budget got a late night approval from the Representative Town Meeting — but not before advocates of a proposed northwest fire station in Greenwich got some bad news. The full budget was approved late Monday night by a vote of 149 to 30 with two abstentions, but without money to find a site for the proposed fire station.
The RTM voted 102 to 91 to remove $100,000, which had been that had been slated to be spent for due diligence on possible properties for a new combined fire and Greenwich Emergency Medical Services station in the northwest corridor. Several RTM members said it made more sense to wait until an independent review of townwide fire coverage was completed.
