The following is a statement from Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo
“Recently there has been a lot of discussion about the municipal improvement status for Town school construction projects. I was approached by a member of the finance board with questions about the MI process in the Town Charter. Then, at my behest, John Wetmore, special counsel, issued a legal opinion from the Town’s legal department to provide that clarity.
As First Selectman, I remain committed to working with the various Town bodies and entities that are needed to facilitate the MI process as soon as possible whenever necessary. School projects are very important to the community as a whole and we want this to be done efficiently, but also correctly. We must all continue to look forward and not delay progress by looking back. I hope this legal opinion provides the information needed for these projects and ones in the future."
