PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Jerry Cotrone has given more than 50 years of his life helping the community in times of need through dedicated and outstanding service to the Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, The Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department is entwined with the core of the Old Greenwich community and has helped out in emergency response all over Greenwich and the surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, Jerry has been a member of the Company since 1972, making him the last active member of what was then known as the Sound Beach Fire Patrol; and
WHEREAS, Jerry has been a tireless advocate for his fellow volunteer firefighters, serving as President of the Greenwich Volunteer Fireman’s Association and making sure their voices are heard and their hard work is recognized; and
WHEREAS, Jerry spent 10 years as president of the Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department and has served on countless committees within the department; and
WHEREAS, Jerry’s more than half a century of work as a volunteer doing life-saving responses and being on call constantly for emergencies in our beloved Town deserves a special recognition.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Fred Camillo, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim May 11, 2023 as
Jerry Cotrone Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all residents to join me in celebrating and in recognizing Jerry’s contributions to our Town for more than 50 years and paying tribute to a man who embodies the idea of volunteer service.
