[ARCHIVED] GPD Hires Three New Officers

March 13 new Hires

Chief James Heavey proudly introduces the newest members of Team GPD. First Selectman Fred Camillo swore in Officers Sabah Ali, Joseph Marini, and Alexander Moran on March 13, 2023, at the Town of Greenwich Public Safety Complex.

Officer Sabah Ali joins GPD with prior police experience.  His law enforcement career began in 2018 when he joined the New York City Police Department.   His last assignment was in the 17th Precinct Midtown South.  Officer Ali has an associate degree and is continuing his education by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.  Officer Ali was born in Iraq, and from 2005 to 2012, Officer Ali served as a translator in the United States Army.

Officer Joseph Marini was born in Greenwich and grew up in New York.   Officer Marini graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a minor in criminal justice.

Officer Alexander Moran was raised in Trumbull, CT.  Officer Moran graduated from Western New England University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Officer Ali, currently a certified Police Officer, starts his training on March 13th and will be attending a comparative police academy before he begins his field training.  Officers Marin and Moran will attend the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden, CT, which begins in April.  After completing their six-month training, they will return to Greenwich to begin their field training.

The Greenwich Police Department is thankful these Officers selected GPD to continue and begin their service.   Once certified Police Officers in Connecticut, they will provide Service, Respect, Courage, Fairness, and Diligence to the residents and visitors of the Town of Greenwich.
