PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, During her nearly 50 years as a dedicated Library Technical Assistant, Mary Curcio, has worked to make cataloging library records a process that had an immense effect on the positive customer service of the Greenwich Library for almost every hour of every day; and
WHEREAS, Mary has for twenty-five years created a collection of DVDs, and videocassettes before that, that could be measured in its quality with any public library throughout New England and the Northeast; and
WHEREAS, Mary has counseled, trained, and mentored dozens of catalogers and library professionals with good humor, encouragement, humility, and empathy; and
WHEREAS, Mary has created and updated metadata on more than 500,000 library records; and
WHEREAS, Mary has been a friend and trusted colleague who performed in her position with intelligence, positivity, professionalism, and warmth; and
WHEREAS, Mary has decided to take a very well-earned retirement and we wanted to give her the tribute that her hard work and commitment to Greenwich Library over the decades deserves.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, FRED CAMILLO, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim January 31, 2023 as
Mary Curcio Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all residents to join me in celebrating and in recognizing Mary’s contributions to our Town and in wishing her well in her retirement and future endeavors.
