PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, William J. Marr began working with the Town of Greenwich Department of Public Works on January 3, 1983; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Marr, in his position as Building Official of the Building Inspection Division in Department of Public Works provided services to ensure compliance with the Connecticut State Building Code, thereby providing safe and accessible buildings and safe dwellings to the citizens of Greenwich; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Marr’s work has supported and bettered the health, safety and comfort of this community, through his work in guiding building owners, contractors and design professionals through the permitting process with the goal of building and improving safe public and private buildings, schools, stadium, libraries, places of worship, residences and other structures; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Marr’s communication skills and diplomacy led the citizenry to support and understand the need for permitting, building inspection and code compliance; and
WHEREAS, The Department of Public Works, established on January 1, 1940, and consisting of six divisions: Engineering, Highway, Waste Disposal, Building Construction and Maintenance, Building Inspection, and Wastewater, supported by DPW Administration, recognizes Mr. Marr’s significant contributions to its mission; and
WHEREAS, The efficiency of the qualified and dedicated personnel who staff our Public Works Department has been enriched and benefited materially by Mr. Marr’s attitude and understanding of the importance of the work we perform; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Marr is retiring from his outstanding service on January 31, 2023.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, FRED CAMILLO, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim January 30, 2023 as
William J. Marr Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all residents to join me in celebrating and in recognizing William’s contributions to our Town and in wishing him well in his retirement and future endeavors.
