[ARCHIVED] Cold Weather Safety for Adults

5 cold weather forcasts

Older adults run a higher risk of health problems and injuries in cold weather, including hypothermia, frostbite, and falls in ice and snow. Like most things in life, it is better to be prepared. The National Institute on Aging offers some tips and precautions everyone should take, especially older adults, during the winter.

We are asking Greenwich residents to check on their senior family and friends when winter storms are predicted to see if they need any assistance, as well as during the storm, to ensure they are safe.

The John A. Margenot Atrium in the Town of Greenwich Public Safety Complex is a warming and charging station for those in need of a respite from the weather.  The lobby is open 24hrs.  The Greenwich Police Department can be reached for non-emergencies at (203) 622-8004 and 911 for all emergencies.
