PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Assistant Chief Brian Koczak began his firefighting career with the North Madison, CT Volunteer Fire Department in 1991. He was appointed to the Greenwich Fire Department on February 28, 1997; and
WHEREAS, Brian rose through the ranks and was promoted to Lieutenant on March 30, 2006. Then, on March 2, 2010, he was promoted to Deputy Chief, and on October 26, 2020 he was appointed to Assistant Chief of the Greenwich Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Brian graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of New Haven in 1997 with a degree in Fire Investigation and a minor in Criminal Justice. In 2018 he completed the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD; and
WHEREAS, Brian was the shift commander of Group 1 for ten years. During this time, he commanded many fires and emergencies. He was the Chairman of the Apparatus Committee where he oversaw purchasing of several apparatus; and
WHEREAS, Brian implemented a lot of the new technology that exists in the department today, including our Records Management System and Intergraded CAD software; and
WHEREAS, We wish Brian, his wife Noreen, his daughter Caitlin, and his son Owen the best of luck. Thank you Chief Koczak for your 25 plus years of dedicated service to the Greenwich Fire Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, FRED CAMILLO, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim November 30, 2022 as
Assistant Chief Brian Koczak Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all residents to join me in celebrating and in recognizing Assistant Chief Koczak’s contributions to our Town and in wishing him well in his retirement and future endeavors.
