PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Tom started his firefighting career in 1989 when he joined the Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department. Tom graduated from Greenwich High School in 1990. Tom attended Mercy College and Graduated in 1994; and
WHEREAS, Firefighting runs in Tom's family, his father served the Port Chester Fire Department for 38 years, his brother Chris was with the Norwalk Fire Department for five years. Tom was hired by King Industries in Norwalk in 1996. Then on February 28, 1997, he was hired by the Greenwich Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, On March 31, 2006, Firefighter Zack had the honor to be promoted as one of the first four Deputy Chiefs in the Greenwich Fire Department. Tom has proudly served in this position more than 16 years; and
WHEREAS, Tom served as our Hazardous Material Deputy Chief and through training, equipment and procedures brought our Hazardous Materials response capabilities to the highest level; and
WHEREAS, Tom with his hard work and devotion has been instrumental in moving the Greenwich Fire Department forward to where it is today; and
WHEREAS, We congratulate Tom and his wife Adrienne, his daughter Rachel and his son Nathan on his 33 years of dedicated service to the Greenwich Fire Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, FRED CAMILLO, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim November 4, 2022 as
Deputy Chief Thomas Zack Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all residents to join me in celebrating and in recognizing Tom’s contributions to our Town and in wishing him well in his retirement and future endeavors.
