PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Debbie Katz Shapiro has been a social worker for 40 years providing clinical counseling, advocacy, education, administration and program development; and
WHEREAS, In 1995, Debbie was awarded Social Worker of the Year for the State of Connecticut by the National Association of Social Workers; and
WHEREAS, Debbie has served for many years as the Director of Outreach and Community Services at Kids in Crisis here in Greenwich, working every day on behalf of children; and
WHEREAS, Ten years ago, Debbie helped to develop and served as an advisor for Rainbow Café, a drop-in center for LGBTQ youth, more recently becoming a Kids In Crisis program now called Lighthouse; and
WHEREAS, She contributed many invaluable hours to and played a key role in the development of the Greenwich Suicide Postvention Response Team; and
WHEREAS, Debbie always puts the needs of the community first, has the innate ability to build and maintain valuable relationships with myriad constituencies in our Town to address their varying needs.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, FRED CAMILLO, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim Tuesday, September 20, 2022 as
Debbie Katz Shapiro Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all citizens and employees to join me in congratulating Debra on an outstanding career and for her dedication and service to the Town of Greenwich.
