[ARCHIVED] 2022 Fall Greenwich Police Citizen's Police Academy

Fall CPA Image

The 9-week program will commence on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, and meets weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Greenwich Police Department, with one

additional Monday class on Monday, November 7. Graduation will be Wednesday, December 21, 2022. To be considered, the Department's Program Coordinator must receive all applications and a copy of the applicant's motor vehicle operator's license by Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

The Citizen's Police Academy provides Greenwich Residents with a first-hand overview of law enforcement and community-related functions of the Greenwich Police Department. Topics of instruction include:

Introduction to Policing           Crime Prevention

Scams/Fraud                              Domestic Violence Investigations

Patrol Operations                      Community Impact Section

Crime Scenes (CSI)                     Criminal Investigations/Special Victims

After the Arrest                          Use of Force/De-Escalation

Instructors for the program are highly-trained and experienced Greenwich Police Officers. Attendees will be allowed to accompany on-duty police personnel within the Marine Section and Patrol Division, at a later time.

All classes are in person at the Greenwich Police Department. Town of Greenwich COVID-19 safety protocols will be implemented, which may include, but not be limited to, limited class capacity, social distancing, proper mask-wearing, temperature checks, and completion of symptom screening forms.

Applicants must be Greenwich residents or Town employees, 18 years or older. The program has no fee; however, the Department requests that applicants be committed to the entire 9-week program. Due to class size limitations, qualified applicants will be subject to a lottery drawing to determine the final class roster. Qualified applicants must pass a criminal history background check. The Program Coordinator will contact the accepted recruits upon completion of the background check.

Applications may be obtained at the Greenwich Police Department front desk or downloaded via the 2022 Fall CPA Application link.
