PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Beatrice, affectionately known as Bea, has lived in the Town of Greenwich since 1981 and since then has given her time, effort, energy, expertise and spirit to enhance our community; and
WHEREAS, Bea, in recognition of her extraordinary ability to represent our Town to Greenwich residents, the State of Connecticut and beyond, and her positive contributions to Town politics, protocol and presence, was named Ambassador-at-Large for Greenwich in 2010 by First Selectman Peter Tesei, and remains active in this role today; and
WHEREAS, Bea has been a dedicated supporter of numerous and wide-ranging Greenwich organizations including the Greenwich Arts Council, the Greenwich Historical Society, the Grace Notes, the Greenwich Choral Society, Palladium Musicum, the Greenwich Symphony, the Greenwich Young Artists Philharmonic; and
WHEREAS, Bea has brought recognition by association to the Town of Greenwich as an accomplished soprano opera singer who has performed with groups at the White House, Carnegie Hall, the Vatican for Pope Benedict, and many other venues abroad; and
WHEREAS, Bea, as evident during the 2019 visit of the London Philharmonic Orchestra to perform in Stamford when she arranged to have a portion of ticket proceeds to benefit the Greenwich Young Artists Philharmonic, believes in the impact and power of music and the arts to enrich our community and the world at large, and to make a meaningful contribution to the education of young people; and
WHEREAS, Bea has brought life to the Town’s annual Fourth of July ceremony at Town Hall and was central to organizing efforts to restore the marble monoliths at the Montgomery Pinetum.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, FRED CAMILLO, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim Monday, September 19, 2022 as
Bea Crumbine Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all our citizens to join me in applauding her years of remarkable service to the Town.
