[ARCHIVED] Electrify Your Life Expo 2022: E-Cars, E-Bikes, E-Landscaping

A coalition of groups dedicated to sustainability and environmental causes is putting on an expo next month to showcase clean energy vehicles and equipment for Fairfield County residents.

“Electrify Your Life” is the brainchild of Greenwich’s Conservation Commission, which aims to give families a hands-on, electric taste of things they usually must burn fossil fuels to operate.

At the top of that list are a variety of electric automobiles, including the Hyundai Kona Electric and Ioniq EV, Nissan LEAF, Kia Niro, Rivan, Audi e-tron, several Teslas and other surprises. Members of the EV Club of Connecticut, as well as some auto dealerships will be on hand to answer questions about the vehicles, and some cars will be available for a test drive.

Spurred by the advocacy group Quiet Yards Greenwich, the expo will also feature emission-free alternatives to noisy, polluting, landscape equipment, including professional and residential models.

Demand is high for electric bikes, with a few studies indicating that 11 to 46 percent of sales come from people buying them as an automobile alternative. Some e-bikes will also be on display and available for riding, so you can see if one might work for you.

This will be a free and family-friendly event, with live music, food trucks, ice cream, and kids’ activities, including a robotic mower game and a remote-controlled car obstacle course.

Join in on the e-fun, Saturday, June 18, from 11 to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Cos Cob train station at 1 Cos Cob Ave., Greenwich. Ample parking avaliable. Be sure to bring a driver’s license if you wish to test drive an auto.

“Electrify Your Life” is a privately funded endeavor, and we are seeking donations to defray the costs of production. Please donate whatever you can at our Patronicity site, herehttps://www.patronicity.com/project/electrify_your_life_expo#!/
