PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Ed Fox served his country in the Navy for six years in Vietnam and on May 2,1972 twenty-nine-year-old Ed Fox joined the East Port Chester Volunteer Fire Department as a probationary fireman; and
WHEREAS, Ed became a 1st grade fireman on August 1, 1973, becoming a 2nd Lieutenant in May 1978, a post he would hold for almost 2 years before moving up to 1st Lieutenant in 1979, Captain in 1980 and Assistant Chief in 1981; and
WHEREAS, Ed became Chief in 1982. In 1983 Ed over saw the departments purchase of the Jaws of Life and worked tirelessly to get the Town to recognize the departments district for the same. He was the first Chief of East Port Chester to command a scene using the new Jaws of Life; and
WHEREAS, After serving his term as District Chief Ed went on to hold the position of Vice President of the department from 1987 to 1991, Treasurer in 1993 then back to Vice President for the last 28 years. Ed also was secretary of the Greenwich Volunteer Fireman's Association for 17 years, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the department; and
WHEREAS, In 1993 he was awarded the Green Cross Award. The Green Cross Award from Hurst is presented to firefighters who have used the Jaws of Life to save lives; and
WHEREAS, From the numerous fire calls, training sessions and meetings Ed has gone above and beyond during his 50 years of service to the Byram Volunteer Fire Department, formerly the East Port Chester Volunteer Fire Department and to his community.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, FRED CAMILLO, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim May 2, 2022 as
Ed Fox Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all citizens to join me in celebrating and in recognizing his contributions to our Town.
