PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Longevity of life is a blessing for an individual and for a community which benefits from the knowledge, creativity, and experiences this individual brings to all; and
WHEREAS, The Town of Greenwich recognizes with respect and admiration the contribution of older adults to our community; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Josie Monroe was born in Pennsylvania on April 25, 1922 and raised in the town of Brownsville where she lived until the age of 18 as she finished school. She then moved to New York to work and continue her education by attending night school. It was in New York that she met her beloved husband Titus to whom she was married for 58 years; and
WHEREAS, She strongly believed in the importance of education and passed this belief along to her daughters, Lorraine and Eileen. She also has served her community as a volunteer for many years with the Greenwich Senior Center and the AARP; and
WHEREAS, She believes that all people are created equal and that God has put us here for a reason which is to live and let live and that she will help anyone because she has been helped; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Monroe enjoys life, family and the people she's met along the way.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, FRED CAMILLO, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim April 25, 2022 as
Josie Monroe Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all citizens to join me in wishing Josie Monroe a very happy 100th birthday! Congratulations and best wishes!
