On Saturday, March 26th, nearly 40 people spent their morning walking in the woods observing the vernal pools at the Greenwich Community Gardens Bible Street location. Hosted by the Environmental Affairs Department (Conservation and Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency), staff were on hand to point out animals and answer questions. Local Greenwich resident and Professional Wetland Scientist, Matt Popp, lead the group to two vernal pools, while listening to the springtime sounds of peepers, wood frogs and birds.

Families got up close to tadpoles, red-backed salamanders, spring peepers, and egg masses.
