PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Francesca (Frances) Amuso Carino was born March 4, 1922 to Pasquale and Catherine Dascoli Amuso. She is one of six children. Her siblings are three younger sisters, Florence Arita, Theresa Siclari and Mary Gumina, and two older brothers, Rocco and Anthony Amuso; and
WHEREAS, Frances attended Mount Kisco, NY and Port Chester NY Public Schools. She married Angelo Carino. Frances and Angelo raised two sons, Robert and Peter. Frances has lived on Pemberwick Road and Bible Street for 63 years and for the last 4 years has lived at The Nathaniel Witherell; and
WHEREAS, Frances has two grandchildren (Peter) Elizabeth and Patrick; and two daughter-in-laws, Sophie (Robert) and Angela (Peter). Her granddaughter Elizabeth was recently married. The ceremony was held in the Rose Garden at Nathaniel Witherell so her 99-year-old “Nana” could attend; and
WHEREAS, Frances has been a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Byram and an active member of the Glenville Seniors, AARP and the Greenwich Senior Center. She enjoys time with her family, friends and reading. Until age 96, Frances would read two books simultaneously. One book in the kitchen and one book in the living room. Her favorite author is Danielle Steele; and
WHEREAS, In 1972 Frances worked as a maid at the Daycroft School in Greenwich. It was a private Christian Science school. There was an outbreak of polio and 12 students were stricken with the polio, leaving some paralyzed. Most of the student population was not immunized against polio for religious beliefs. It was one of the last polio outbreaks in the United States. Frances survived unscathed; and
WHEREAS, Frances will let you know what’s on her mind and how she feels about a particular situation. She has been transparent all her life, long before how the word is used today. She will stick up for anyone she feels needs help, whether it’s family, friends or someone she has just met.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, FRED CAMILLO, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim March 4, 2022 as
Frances Carino Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all citizens to join me in wishing Frances Carino a very happy 100th birthday! Congratulations and best wishes!
