PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Arline Lomazzo has dedicated 60 years of public service to our Town; and
WHEREAS, She taught at Cos Cob, Hamilton Avenue and Western Middle schools for 31 years; and
WHEREAS, Arline turned the tragic death of her 16-year-old son into a 21-year mission for pedestrian safety on Putman Avenue and other roadways in Town; and
WHEREAS, She advocated for her cause tirelessly with multiple Town bodies to analyze, fund and build sidewalks; and
WHEREAS, Arline was a force behind the creation of the Selectman’s Public Safety Committee, and subsequently elected to the Representative Town Meeting for 38 years; and
WHEREAS, She was labeled “very persuasive” in her pursuit of her mission, fact finding, site visits, and navigation of the government bodies to make an enduring gift of pedestrian safety for our Town.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Fred Camillo, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim Wednesday, December 15, 2021 as
Arline Lomazzo Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all our citizens to join me in congratulating Arline on an outstanding career and for her dedication and service to the Town of Greenwich.
