PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Carmella “Carm” Budkins was elected Town Clerk and began her first of 15 terms as such in January 1991, being the first female Town Clerk in the Town’s history; and
WHEREAS, Carm is a Greenwich native, graduated from Greenwich High School, and has had many community affiliations, including the Chickahominy Neighborhood Association, Community Centers, Inc., Greenwich Board of Health, Greenwich Republican Town Committee, Hamilton Avenue School PTA and Parent Council, and St. Roch’s Church, as well as the Fairfield County Town Clerks Association; and
WHEREAS, During her 30-year tenure as Town Clerk she implemented technology that streamlines the process of recording documents efficiently for our customers, with online images available back to 1936; and
WHEREAS, She formed the “Town of Greenwich Preservation Committee” to plan and implement a program to conserve the Town’s original manuscript record books the Town’s earliest records dating to 1640 have been preserved and are stored in the Town Vault; and
WHEREAS, Carm is married to John, the mother to three children, and grandmother to five; and
WHEREAS, As of December 31, 2021, Carm is retiring as Town Clerk, leaving a legacy of service to the Town.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Fred Camillo, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim Tuesday, December 14, 2021 as
Carm Budkins Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all our citizens to join me in applauding Carm’s many years of dedicated service to the Town and in wishing her many more years of health and happiness in her retirement and future endeavors.
