Emergency Declaration as a result of Tropical Storm Ida

RESOLUTION OF THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AS A RESULT OF TROPICAL STORM IDA

 

WHEREAS, under Connecticut General Statute section 28-8a, the Chief Executive Officer of a municipality in which a major disaster of emergency has occurred, may take such action as he deems necessary to mitigate said disaster or emergency; and

 

WHEREAS, beginning on September 1, 2021 and continuing through the present time, the Town of Greenwich has been overwhelmed by flooding rain as a result of a tropical storm which has caused an emergency situation including but not limited to serious damage from flooding.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED, that a major disaster has occurred and an emergency exists within said town.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED, that the Chief Executive Officer will hereby take action as necessary to mitigate the effects of said disaster and emergency including but not limited to contracting for repairs and disaster relief without the normal bidding process and the hiring of contractors to repair damage caused by flooding, winds and rain.

 

IT IS FURTHER PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED, that this directive and proclamation shall take effect immediately and shall remain in effect for the duration of the emergency unless earlier modified by the Chief Executive Officer.
