About an hour-and-a-half after the polls closed Tuesday night in the special election for the 36th Senate District, Republican Ryan Fazio claimed victory in the three-way race.
Cheers erupted at Fazio’s campaign headquarters in Riverside as the winning candidate came out to speak to his supporters.
“Today the voters of Greenwich, Stamford and New Canaan sent a message loud and clear to the state Capitol in Connecticut that a change is going to come,” Fazio said to loud cheers from a crowd of nearly 100 supporters.
