[ARCHIVED] Greenwich Revises Face Mask Protocol

PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Thursday, August 5, 2021

Good Afternoon,

News that there has been “substantial” community transmission of the Delta variant throughout our state is not surprising. More companies, stores, events venues and restaurants are requiring employees and patrons to be vaccinated and to wear a face mask.

Vaccination and wearing a face mask are the best strategies to prevent the spread COVID-19. In order to maintain a safe work environment for each of us, we are adjusting our face mask policy, beginning Monday, August 9. All employees – regardless of vaccination status – must wear a face mask in our public spaces, especially when social distancing is not possible.

All visitors to our facilities -  including Town Hall - will be required to wear a face mask, regardless of vaccination status. This is a temporary measure – a minor adjustment of our operations to help us get through this recent uptick in cases. This does not signal any change in our daily operations – we are open for business.

If you are not vaccinated, I cannot stress strongly enough that you consider doing so to protect not only yourself, but your family and your co-workers. Yes, there are break-through cases of the COVID variant. Those patients experience very mild symptoms of the illness. The State of Connecticut has an easy- to-use webpage to find a local vaccine clinic: https://portal.ct.gov/Vaccine-Portal

Thank you in advance for your continued cooperation in providing essential services to our residents during these challenging times.

Your cooperation is vital to maintaining a safe work environment. I will be communicating this message to Greenwich residents as well.

Department Heads, please post this email for employees who do not have Town-issued email.

Sincerely,

Fred Camillo
