[ARCHIVED] RTM Special May 2021 Meeting Public Comments

Mary Flynn- District 12:

Item No. 1

It is not acceptable that this “process” delayed the contract for the North Mianus School repair by as much as a week. And who knows the effect a week’s delay in ordering will have on actual delivery of materials.

We could (should?) not have known we would only get one bid, but that’s what happened and because of that the contract could’ve been signed already. One bid is another area to discuss at a future date.

This “process” needs change.

And the RFP process needs change too.
1. It was 570 unnumbered pages.
2. There were no links to the different sections in the table of contents. This at best cumbersome when combined with unnumbered pages.
3. The first mention of project specifications came on the unnumbered page 7, and the link to take you to those specifications took you to another page, which linked you to the specifications, but definitely not seamlessly. Wasn’t it lawyered? Lawyered by a town lawyer? Why didn’t anybody notice? And why has it already been taken down?
4. The RFP was not on the Greenwich town website. BOE RFP’s live in a separate area in the Greenwich Public Schools website. These are town schools and should be covered by Townhall too. It was very difficult to even find the RFP.

Considering all the people involved, today’s “process” has spent in the neighborhood of 1,000 unnecessary working hours for this meeting to occur.

We can, and need to do better.
