PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Mark Marino began his law enforcement career in 1977 when he joined the U.S. Army and served as a military police officer until 1980 when he was honorably discharged; and
WHEREAS, On June 10, 1983, Mark was sworn in as a Greenwich Police Officer and ably served in many capacities and assignments during his career with the Greenwich Police Department; and
WHEREAS, His abilities and steady leadership served him well as he rose through the ranks – he was promoted to Sergeant in 1995; to Lieutenant in 2004; to Captain in 2010, and to Deputy Chief in 2012; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure Mark became a member of the Special Response Unit (SRU) in 1988 and has been the Commander of the unit since 2009; as well as head of the Professional Standards Division, and since 2019, he also has been Director of Parking Services; and
WHEREAS, Mark’s dedication to serving the residents of the Town of Greenwich has been recognized by numerous letters of appreciation, awards and commendations, including the Greenwich Lions Club John C. Clarke Award, the Meritorious Police Duty Medal, the Greenwich Police Department Merit Award, the U.S. Attorney’s Award for Law Enforcement and the Investigator’s Ribbon; and
WHEREAS, After 38 years of exemplary service to the Greenwich community, as of June 1, Mark officially retires his shield, to spend more time with his family, especially with his wife Lisa, their son Christian, and daughter Meghan.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Fred Camillo, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim Tuesday, June 1, 2021 as
Deputy Chief Mark Marino Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all citizens to join me in celebrating and in recognizing Mark’s contributions to our Town and in wishing him well in his retirement and future endeavors.
