PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Horizons at Brunswick School, an academic and enrichment program serving 130 Greenwich Public School boys from limited financial means, aims to improve the academic outcome of its students and reduce the summer slide and achievement gap in the Greenwich community; and
WHEREAS, The Horizons at Brunswick School program is a long-term commitment to each student and dedicated family participation, resulting in an enduring and supportive learning community; and
WHEREAS, Horizons at Brunswick School is committed to the development of the whole boy through experiences that instill in each student the joy of learning, the skills for success, and the inspiration to realize their dreams; and
WHEREAS, Brunswick School generously provides in-kind gifts, such as the use of its space and pool. All other expenses including staff and teacher’s salaries, food, field trips, and program materials are entirely funded by philanthropic local donors; and
WHEREAS, Due to COVID-19, Horizons at Brunswick School is committed now more than ever to support Horizons students in their educational journey and to lessen the widening opportunity gap.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Fred Camillo, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim Saturday, May 8, 2021 as
Horizons at Brunswick School Awareness and Giving Day
in the Town of Greenwich to help raise awareness of the academic needs of Greenwich Public School students and to continue to seek solutions for these challenges.
