Today the Greenwich Fire Department had a promotional ceremony held at Fire headquarters. It was a big day for the department as we promoted Thomas Lenart to the position of Deputy Chief of Training and three firefighters to the position of Lieutenant. The ceremony was presided over by First Selectman Camillo and also attended by Selectperson Jill Oberlander
Chief Lenart has 21 years with the GFD and was previously assigned to Truck 1 located in headquarters. Thomas brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his new position. He replaces former Deputy Chief of Training Larry Roberts who retired at the end of November. Chief Lenart will head up the training division of the GFD which oversees all the training conducted for the entire department.
GFD also promoted three firefighters to the rank of Lieutenant. These newly promoted Lieutenants will take the place of two Lieutenants who have retired and the promotion of Chief Lenart. Lieutenant Steven Heaney has been with the department for over 12 years. Lieutenant Kevin Coyner has over 15 years of experience with the GFD and Michael Varanelli has 7 years of experience with the GFD.
Congratulations to all!
