PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, The Town of Greenwich recognizes the importance of highlighting the accomplishments and bestowing honor on residents who are committed to excellence and consistently strive to serve and improve our community by willingly devoting their time and ingenuity to assisting others; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Burns is an extraordinary example of one of these residents, as she has devoted nine years of service to the Greenwich Commission on Aging, and has served as Chairwoman of the Commission on Aging Board for seven of those years; and
WHEREAS, As Chairwoman of the Commission on Aging Patricia Burns has generously applied her experience, strength, and wisdom to a myriad of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of older adults in the Town of Greenwich and heightening awareness of the beneficial services and programs the Commission on Aging offers; and
WHEREAS, Under Patricia’s leadership, a new vision for the Commission on Aging and the role it plays in our community has been realized. She has transformed the Board into a strong working committee; increased understanding of changing demographics; introduced the Age & Dementia Friendly Greenwich project; has reinvigorated the Friends of the Greenwich Senior Center and has been involved in all phases of the renovation of the Greenwich Senior Center; and
WHEREAS, Patricia has lead the Commission on Aging in transforming its operations to support and serve our most vulnerable older adult residents during the Covid-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, Patricia has made the Greenwich Commission on Aging a more visible and viable resource for the community, and these enduring accomplishments would not be possible without the inestimable contributions of volunteers like her who constitute a priceless resource and treasure in our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Fred Camillo, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim April 21, 2021 as
Patricia Burns Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge every resident to take this opportunity to honor her for her service to older adults and to our community and celebrate her lasting accomplishments and contributions.
