PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman
WHEREAS, Gregory S. Hannigan is a 4th generation Greenwich resident who attended Old Greenwich Elementary, Eastern Junior High and St. Mary High School, Class of 1968; and
WHEREAS, After high school he attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy where his Midshipmen Regiment marched in President Nixon’s 1969 Inaugural Parade in Washington, DC. In 1973, while working to support himself through college, Gregory graduated from Fordham University with a BS in Marketing. He went on to graduate from the University of Connecticut in 1983 with a Master of Business Administration degree; and
WHEREAS, Gregory began his 50-year professional career at the Putnam Trust Company and then Osborne and Little. In 2001 he joined the Greenwich Police Department where he served as Director of General Services for 20 years; and
WHEREAS, He has volunteered his time and leadership to the Greenwich community over a span of decades serving various non-profit organizations, Town government, and youth activities while being a friend and mentor to many; and
WHEREAS, We wish Gregory much happiness as he begins this new chapter in his life with his wife Nancy, his children Kristen and Jeffrey, and grandchildren.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Fred Camillo, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH, do
hereby proclaim Tuesday, March 16, 2021 as
Gregory S. Hannigan Day
in the Town of Greenwich and urge all our citizens to join me in celebrating Gregory S. Hannigan’s many years of dedicated service to our Town and in wishing him well in his retirement and future endeavors.
