Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade
Sunday, March 19, 2023
Our annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is sponsored by the Greenwich Hibernian Association. This is one of the most festive events of the year and the whole Town loves to come out and celebrate the holiday by cheering on everyone in the parade.
For anyone who wants to attend the parade, everything will kick off from Town Hall at 2 p.m. The parade route goes up Field Point Road before turning right on the Post Road which brings it to the top of Greenwich Avenue where everyone will march down to Railroad Avenue. So far there are 11 bands that are committed to being in the parade and resident Kevin McFadden will serve as grand marshal.
One important reminder is that in order for the parade to safely proceed, there will be some road closures. The Greenwich Police Department will be redirecting traffic to the detour route and people should know that starting at noon on March 19, Dayton Avenue will be closed to traffic and then at 1:30 p.m. Field Point Road’s portion of the route will be closed.
At 1:45 p.m., West Putnam Avenue’s portion of the route and all of Greenwich Avenue will be closed. Then at 1:55 p.m., there will be closures and detours put in place for the key sections of Railroad Avenue, Steamboat Road, and Bruce Park Avenue for the parade route.
There will be no parking on the east side of the top and middle of Greenwich Avenue and on both sides of Greenwich Avenue south of and including Greenwich Commons by the Havemeyer Building. There will be posted no parking signs and anyone violating this afternoon on Sunday may be subject to tow.
