STRAWS screening and discussion

Sunday, January 27, 2019

Calling middle and high school students for a screening of the documentary 'Straws'. Every day in the US, millions of non-recyclable plastic straws are used once and tossed, ending up in landfills and incinerators, littering streets and polluting waterways and beaches. Actor Tim Robbins narrates a colorful history of straw use, and marine researchers, citizen activists and business owners discuss how they're making a sea of change, one plastic straw at a time. Discover how students can make a difference in Greenwich and beyond! Mia Nixon will share her adventures with 5 Gyres and EarthEco International and Jack Egan of Surfrider Connecticut will inspire action against plastic pollution. Hear from student change makers about local school initiatives.
