Annual Parking Permits

Parking permits are issued on an annual basis and administered through the Department of Parking Services and are only valid in the lots to which they are designated.

RENEWALS Parking permits may ONLY be renewed and paid online. Once your renewal application has been approved, you will receive an email with instructions on paying for your permit, online, using a major credit card:  (Visa, MasterCard, Discover). Your permit will be mailed to you in December.

Renewal applicants of 2020 permits: with the exception of Cos Cob, Old Greenwich and Riverside renewal applicants, are required to upload proof documents as indicated on the list of acceptable proof documents contained in the renewal instructions and requirements document.

Failure to supply documents which meet the criteria listed will result in the 2021 parking permit being denied. 

Please note: all outstanding parking citations must be settled in order to renew a permit.

You will need the information contained in the letter / email sent to you in order to renew your permit.


Parking permits may be renewed from October 1, 2020 thru December 31, 2020. Late fees will be assessed for payments received after December 1, 2020. Submit your renewal request online.

PERMIT WAITLIST - If you wish to add your name to a parking permit waitlist, for a specific lot, please submit your waitlist request online.

Please remember that it is your responsibility to notify the Department of any changes in your information to ensure that any correspondence or materials are sent to you properly, including changes to your license plate. Departmental policy will not allow for any refunds, replacement or exchange of parking permits regardless of the circumstances. Any outstanding parking citations must be and paid in full before a permit will be issued, or renewed.

Note: Misuse and / or abuse of permit(s) that have been reported lost, stolen or transferred constitutes fraud and will be subject to prosecution, revocation of current permits(s),  and / or denial of future permit(s).

Make Sure Your Information is updated

It is the responsibility of the permit holder to make sure all of your information is accurate and up-to-date. Notify the Department of Parking Services immediately of changes to your information: license plate(s), address, telephone number(s). Remember, only two license plates are allowed per permit. Violations are issued to permit holders with invalid/unrecognized license plates.

Permit Types and Locations

Merchant Parking

Applicants for a Merchant Parking permit must prove employment at a business establishment located in the Business District for which they are applying.

  • Byram Parking Lot, Mill Street and William Street - $ 25
  • Lafayette Place Parking Lot - $ 720
  • Sound View Parking Lot (Greenwich) - $ 720
  • Town Hall Garage - $ 456
  • West End Avenue Parking Lot (Old Greenwich) - $ 165

Resident Commuter Parking - requires Proof of Residency (PDF)

  • Greenwich Plaza, Level A - $ 720
  • Horseneck Lane Parking Lot - $ 456
  • Island Beach Parking Lot** - $ 456

Resident / Non-Resident Commuter Parking

  • Cos Cob Railroad Station - $ 456
  • Old Greenwich Railroad Station - $ 456
  • Riverside Railroad Station - $ 456


 - Fees include CT State sales tax (effective 1/1/20)

- Overnight parking is prohibited

Weekend Parking

Free parking on weekends and holidays at all Metro-North owned railroad parking lots (excludes Greenwich Plaza, Horseneck Lane, Island Beach, and Sound View).

**Summer Parking (Island Beach Parking Lot)

During Island Beach Ferry season parking will be permitted in the designated permitted areas and available on a first-come, first-served basis for beach parking only. Beach Pass Parking is reserved for Town residents with a Park (Beach) Pass in the designated spaces. Park (Beach) Passes are issued through the Department of Parks and Recreation. Beach pass parking is reserved for Island Beach goers, anyone found using the pass for commuting purposes will be subject to ticketing and revocation of their Park (Beach) Pass.
