Greenwich Avenue Sewer Rehabilitation

Project Background

As part of the Town’s annual preventative maintenance program, the Department of Public Works Sewer Division inspected all of the Town's sanitary sewer mains along Greenwich Avenue and determined areas that required repairs. Sanitary sewer mains transport wastewater (water from sinks, toilets, showers, washing machines, etc.) to the Grass Island Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment. The purpose of this work is to provide many continued years of service life to the critical sewer infrastructure that serves the community and limit the potential for digging up the road for sewer repairs after any future paving is performed along Greenwich Avenue. Planned, preventative infrastructure maintenance like this results in a lower project cost and less disruption to the community as a whole and means the likelihood of a system failure is much reduced. The Contractor performing the work is Green Mountain Pipeline Services and the Engineering Consultant who is assisting in managing the field activities is CDM Smith.

Important Information

As of Thursday, March 16, 2023, sewer lining work on Greenwich Avenue is officially complete and the majority of sewer rehabilitation work is finished. It is anticipated that the final trench restoration work will be performed in the next few weeks on Greenwich Avenue. The purpose of this work is to provide many continued years of service life to the critical sewer infrastructure that serves the community and limit the potential for digging up the road for repairs after any future paving is performed along Greenwich Avenue. This work is completely separate from any other future road and/or intersection improvements. We thank you for your continued cooperation while we complete this critical and necessary work.
