
Great Captain Island is a 17.2-acre Town-owned island with a historic lighthouse that was built in 1868. Visitors ride a ferry from Greenwich, CT, and will find picnic and camping areas as well as a beach in Long Island Sound. Facilities include restrooms, showers, water fountains, picnic tables, and grills. There is also a 911 memorial and bird sanctuary at Great Captain Island.
