The Department of Public Works, Building Inspection Division, strives to ensure the best health, safety, and general welfare of the Greenwich community. The Building Inspection Division enforces the Connecticut State Building Code, and issues building and trade permits for a wide variety of activities.

Inspections are made by building, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC inspectors at critical stages of construction to ensure compliance with all applicable codes.

Permit Record Room

APPOINTMENTS PREFERRED and will have preference. Open to the public Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

Save yourself a trip! Many requests can be handled by email. Send requests for surveys, permit reports, building plans, and copies of C.O.s to *Schedule appointments for viewing and copying of files using the same email. Title searchers and attorneys are required to have scheduled appointments.
