Building Inspection

This Division enforces the Connecticut State Building Code and issues building and trade permits for a wide variety of activities.  Click here to learn what activity on your property requires a permit.

Effective April 5, 2021 the Building Inspection Division will be open for public visits and will be accepting permit applications by in-person visits and by e-mail as outlined below:

Public Hours:

Monday through Friday –8:00 am to 1:00 PM

APPOINTMENTS PREFERRED and will have preference - Open to public Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 12pm.

SAVE YOURSELF A TRIP  - Many requests can be handled by e-mail. Send requests for surveys, permit reports, building plans and copies of C.O.s to: bldgrecords@greenwichct.org.

*Schedule appointments for viewing and copying of files using the same e-mail. Title searchers and attorneys are required to have scheduled appointments.

Inspections

Inspections are made by building, electrical, plumbing and HVAC inspectors at critical stages of construction to ensure compliance with all applicable codes.
