Permit Application Process

Where do I start ?

  • Make sure you have your plans ready to bring with you to the Building Inspection Division.  This may include:
    • 2 copies of design drawings or architectural plans
    • 2 copies of survey (A2)
  • Come to the Building Inspection Division to obtain a "sign-off sheet" indicating which agencies/departments are required to review and sign-off on your activity.
  • Visit the necessary agencies/departments to obtain their review and sign-off.  Remember, these agencies/departments may need time to review your plans.

Now what?

  • Upon obtaining all the applicable department sign-offs, return to the Building Inspection Division to file your permit application.
  • Bring with you:
    • Completed sign-off sheet and plans (as stamped by other agencies/departments)
    • Applicable building permit application form, filled out and including owner’s notarized signature if owner is not filing the permit
    • Workers Comp Affidavit signed and notarized by permit applicant
    • Credit card (Visa or MasterCard only) or check to pay permit fee. Click here for a list of building permit fees.
